Baby's born! Now what?!

When you hire a Doula, you might only imagine her being there for the toughest part of labor and the birth of your baby. You may even think that once your little bundle of joy is born, your Doula will slip out of the birth room and on to a new client.

Contrarily, a Doula's job doesn't end the moment the chord is cut between mom and baby. Birthing Tree Doula's stay after baby is born to assure feeding is successful and everyone is comfortable. The immediate postpartum period is a magical time of bonding between baby and parents and we strive to make sure this is happening in the most peaceful environment possible. We offer breastfeeding support in the first few hours postpartum and if continued care is needed, make arrangements.

Some of our clients choose to take advantage of our postpartum Doula services. As your postpartum Doula we support your family in your home in the first days to weeks after the birth of your baby. A postpartum Doula, like a Birth Doula provides evidence based care and support. During this time, we specialize and focus on infant feeding, mother-baby bonding and helping our clients recover from childbirth. We also help in more practical ways, such as laundry, errands or cooking a meal for the family in your home. Women do so much for their families, and in our society, are expected to not stop after giving birth. We feel that the postpartum period, like your birth experience, is sacred. These are some of the most precious days of motherhood. We want you to look back on those first weeks, and remember counting fingers and toes, relishing in that intoxicating "newborn baby smell" and loving on your new miracle.

*Contact us today if you're interested in a postpartum consultation with Holly or Ashton.
